Social Bookmarking could help your site gain traffic but it also could decrease your site’s bounce rate at the same time. That’s what I get when my site receive visits from Stumble Upon and Twitter.
You right . Traffic come from social site will have bounce rate high. My site traffic come almost from SU and digg, twitter so have bounce rate too high
social bookmarking gets good healthy traffic to the site
I think social bookmarking is not easy as you may think because there are tons of users those always spread lots of information on the Internet. Making your brand, I think, is the first step to let social bookmarking becomes more effective.

The only social bookmarking site that has given me good traffic is SU, but again, the bounce rate is a bit high and th average time on site is less than the other sources. So I am not happy with it.

Traffic come from social bookmarking (SU) will get bounce rate high. But traffic come from digg and delicious will get bounce rate low.

I am just learning about social bookmarking so this article is very helpful for me. I get traffic from Twitter and StumbleUpon but as you say with stumbles the bounce rate can be high.
Just learning about Facebook as I have mainly been concentrating on Twitter as I seem to be interacting better on there.

It is proved reality that social book marking sites are useful for traffic but most of these sites provide no follow links.

StumbleUpon especially as a social bookmarking service can build some long-term traffic. Granted, it tends to have a high bounce rate but it can really help with getting some viewers.

I have to agree with Giang Chau. If you try to link your site on social bookmarking website that they do not know or does not contain anything useful, chances are, you will see them just bouncing off your site.
Social bookmarking sites are definitely not to be ignored. First for the direct traffic and then more importantly for the SEO side. Although I can’t really say that the traffic I’m getting from those kind of websites is huge, it is still a good addition. On the other hand they are great choice for personal use to bookmark interesting sites etc. Definitely better than bookmarking on the browser itself.

Yes i know social bookmarking is the best source for getting traffic but i don’t know the proper why of doing this. I share my articles in many social bookmarking sites but I was not getting traffic. I agree social bookmarking is not to be overlooked, and depending on the popularity of the bookmarking site will affect your own traffic levels naturally, and yes Digg/Stumble can be really good sources for driving more traffic, but as of late I havent had much success with them.

I am new to this thing but I just feel that facebook and twitter seem to be the default choices of people in order to share great content. Not one person in my circle is active in social bookmarking sites. I really wonder though why that is.
You can try to contact other bloggers from same niche and ask them if they like to share voting links via mail, it really works.

You need to put a lot of time in social bookmarking communities to get followers, for me only 4 have been working all this time and they are stumble, digg, twitter and facebook. For others, it works only if you have decent followers.
