Before I started using Google Analytics I was only using a plugin called Stattraq and it was wildly inaccurate. It would count the search engine spiders and web site robots as legit visitors. You can imagine my sadness at realising I was only bringing in about 1,000 unique hits a month instead of 30,000+.
Google Analytics is best tool for your website statistics. You can do more with Google Analytics
